Red Gwent in the Dean

“One of the divisions of Gwent; the other two being Gwent Uch Coed, and Gwent Coch yn y Dena (Red Gwent in the Dean – EB), or the Forest of Dean. Gwent was the name formerly applied to the eastern division of South Wales. In its present restricted sense it is applied only to the county of Monmouth.”
